Meek Gichugui took up painting at 14 after watching his elder brothers and others experienced at work in what has been dubbed Kenya’s Premier “Art Village” Ngecha. In 1987 he became a portage of Sane Wadu one of the founding members of the Ngecha Art movement.
Meek’s paintings which convey the world of disarticulated denizens in a dance macabre or whooping it up in surreal carnivals, embody an infectious sinister gaiety that seems to please his collectors.
