Simon Peter Katumba, born in 1989, Uganda, is a practicing visual artist with a primary medium of painting. Katumba was raised in a family with strong religious and traditional cultural values and this set the foundations for him as an artist. Simon began to gain an artistic direction and subject focus whilst studying for his undergraduate degree in commercial industrial art and design at Nkumba University.

Simon’s subject matters range from cultural, religious, social and economic development (in the Ugandan context) and how western influence has caused these to alter. Bold use of colour is a key component in creating the concepts of which his work is based upon.

Katumba has participated in various art projects, both commercially and community based. These include Kampala Laba Art Festival. Contemporary Art Festival 2014, Kampala City Festival 2015, 2016.
